The Language of Light.
After completing part four of Expressing Your Vision I learnt about exposure, how when you set your camera to any of the built in auto modes, and take a photograph of a black, white or grey sheet of paper, it assumes that the black is too black, the white is too white but the grey is correct, so it adjusts all the images to eighteen percent grey. When taking photographs outdoors there are so many different layers of light to take into consideration, what season is it, what time of day is it and of course there is the golden hour. Artificial light can be so beautiful, there are so many mixed sources of different colours, brightness and shapes. Ex nihilo which means out of nothing, you can create your own lighting, you don’t necessarily need professional lighting you can improvise if you want to make an image look softer. Colours can create a more ambient feel to your images too.
It’s really important to think about lighting when you are composing your composition, as it can alter your final image.
